Sousei no Aquarion Ep1

So I saw this new anime up for dl... Did some research abt it... Wasn't much. From wat I gather:

The human race had lost 2/3 of the world’s population because of a random act of nature. The ice of Antarctica melted, and the city of Atlantis, lost for 12,000 years, appeared. Because of this beings known as the "Fallen Angels" were revived. They were a winged race of humans who sent biomechanical weapons called "Mythical Beasts" into cities to capture people in order to drain them of biological energy called “Purana”.The humans were excavating ruins on the bottom of the sea as they looked for fighter planes, “Vector Machines”. These were the weapon that were said to control the Fallen Angels. Vector Machines combine together to form into “Machine Angel Aquerion”.Only a person with the Element ability can operate Aquerion, so teenagers were gathered as candidates to be pilots.

Oooo...Mecha anime with extraterrestial vs human race/teenagers... Again. Not that I will condemn it to hell w/o watching it, but these frequency of genre tend to reduce my tolerance threshold - It takes more to surprise me. But then, not that I won't give it a shot. The first episode was alright. Didn't feel particularly bored nor excited. The graphics were great though. The characters aren't making much impression right now... Well... they have probably a few more episodes to establish themselves. What troubles me though is that the main character is kinda like an animal... bratty and violent...(seems like recent animes have such main characters...see naruto and bleach for proof) Anyway, the union of the pilots also strikes me as weird - They make funny noises...
